All of our courses are run here at Manor Farm Tea Shoppe in our new Function Room. Booking is essential and forms available from the Tea Shoppe. We ask for £10 non-refundable deposit for each place booked in order to cover our administration costs. All courses include cup of tea/coffee on arrival and a light meal designed around the particular course.

Fabulous Free Machinery Designs to Create Either a Tea or Coffee Pot Cosy

We are delighted to have Jane Lightfoot working with us this year. She has an exceptional talent for design and her work is truly delightful. Perhaps you have seen her exhibiting at local craft fairs or in the Secret Garden in Southwell? She makes a wide variety of beautiful products from egg cosies, makeup bags, notebook covers to magnificent cushions and pictures. The workshop will cover all the topics required to make either one of the cosies and ends with you taking home a finished article for all to admire! The course is £45 per person which includes a light lunch and tea/coffee throughout the day. The cost of materials (supplied by Jane) will be payable on the day at the cost of approximately £9-£10. If you have a sewing machine please bring it with you so you can get the most out of using your own machine. We only have 2 machines of our own so it is essential to bring your own! Exact workshop details will be provided to those who have booked nearer the date. Maximum 8 people. Booking essential.

Easter Baking...Make your own Simnel Cake

I’m sure you have all tasted our wonderful baking here at the tea shoppe. We are thrilled to be able to offer you the opportunity of being involved in a hands on day making your own Easter Simnel Cake. The day will be great fun and a chance for you to get your own hands mixing and making! The cost will be £45 per person to include a light lunch and tea/coffee throughout the day, all ingredients and your very own 8”(21cm) cake. Make the cake in the morning, lunch with new or old friends, and learn some decoration skills in the afternoon...what a perfect way to spend a day! Only 8 places available.

Hands-on workshop – make your own Easter/Springtime table arrangement

Local florist and business owner, Jane from Minster Flowers (next to the Handicentre in Southwell) will be teaching us how to indulge our creativity culminating in a floristry treat to take home with you. Perhaps you already know Jane’s work but if you don’t you won’t be disappointed! £30 per person which includes all the required flowers, foliage and accessories together with tea/coffee and biscuits. Booking essential. Maximum of 10 people. Please bring your own secateurs.

Another Opportunity to Get Sewing!

We have another fantastic day planned with JANE LIGHTFOOT, local designer who is brilliant at hand & machine sewing. This day will encompass a little bit of everything from hand to machine sewing and Jane will show us how to do some beautiful hand embroidery stitches. There is also the opportunity to work with gorgeous silk ribbons as embellishments. We shall be making either a needle & pin case or lavender hearts…. Both of which are gorgeous to give as gifts or to enjoy yourself! Cost is £45 per person to include all tuition, refreshments and a light lunch. A charge for materials used on the day will be made directly to Jane who brings with her a feast of different fabrics and accessories. By the end of the day you will have created a wonderful article to take home with you! Maximum number of places 8.

Basic Bread Making with local breadmaker Linda Hewitt

Linda Hewitt, bread maker exceptionale will be coming to the tea shoppe once again but this time will be running a hands on workshop giving you the skills to make bread from scratch with just a few raw ingredients. By the end of the day you will have a booty of bread to take home with you. All materials, equipment and ingredients will be provided for you together with refreshments and a light lunch. Cost will be £55 per person with a maximum of 10 people participating.

Create your own ceramic planter

Local potter from Carlton, Sarah Burton, will be running a hands-on workshop for you to make a coiled planter ideal for holding a small plant. Spend a delightful few hours learning to use clay under Sarah’s brilliant tuition. Pots will be made and under-glazed using a variety of colours on the day then final glazing and firing will be done by Sarah in her studio. Pots will be ready for collection from the tea shoppe approximately 2 weeks later…… and definitely in time for Mother’s Day! £25 per person plus cost of materials on the day (approx £3-£5 maximum). Maximum number of places available are 10 so book early!

Using your microwave more efficiently with our local home economist TERESA BOVEY

Do you just use your microwave to cook baked beans or peas, defrost the occasional thing or two, or reheat the leftovers from a previous meal? Well if so, then we have a great evening planned with Teresa who has an enormous amount of knowledge to get the best out of your microwave….. long gone will be those days of old! You will be surprised as to how maximising your microwave will save you time and results in delicious mouth- watering meals. Cost is £22.50 per person to include refreshments and tasting samples.

Do you love our cakes? Well, as a special treat we will be running a hands on workshop showing you the skills in creating a delicious cake of your own to take home.
